A regular YouTube account has no block button for channels, only "Don't recommend channel", which shows the channel less in recommendations; its videos can still turn up in search. TubeBlock adds a Block channel button to video cards and channel pages. One click and the channel disappears from Home, search results, Up next and Subscriptions.
Blocked channels
Add words like "prank", "spoiler" or a topic you are tired of. TubeBlock hides videos whose title or channel name contains them, wherever YouTube lists videos. Turn on whole-word matching when a short word would catch too much.
Blocked keywords
YouTube can show you fewer Shorts, but it has no switch to turn them off. With TubeBlock one switch keeps Shorts shelves and Shorts cards out of Home, search and Subscriptions until you switch it off again.
TubeBlock
Get the free TubeBlock file from the install page and unzip it into a folder you will keep.
Open the extensions page, turn on Developer mode and choose Load unpacked. It takes about a minute.
Hover a video and press Block channel, add a few words or switch Shorts off. Changes apply right away.
TubeBlock is a small, single-purpose tool. Here is exactly what it does with your data, and what it does not.
No sign-up, no e-mail, no login. Install it and it works. It does not touch your Google account.
Blocked channels, keywords and switches are saved in your browser's extension storage. We never receive them. The extension has no analytics and no tracking.
It asks for two things: storage for your lists and access to www.youtube.com to hide cards. What each permission means.
Yes. Every feature is free and there is no paid plan. We do not charge for anything, see the refund policy.
No. TubeBlock has no accounts at all. You do not need to be signed in to YouTube either, although it works the same when you are.
Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave and Opera on a computer. For now you install it from a zip file with "Load unpacked" (step-by-step guide). A Chrome Web Store listing is coming soon, Firefox support later.
No. TubeBlock is a browser extension, so it does not work in the YouTube apps for iPhone, iPad or Android, on smart TVs, in YouTube TV or in the YouTube Kids app. It works on youtube.com in a desktop browser.
No. Blocking happens only on your screen: TubeBlock hides cards in your browser and sends nothing to YouTube or to the channel.
